Functional Food Analysis

Functional foods provide health benefits beyond essential nutrition. Fruits and vegetables are naturally rich in compounds called phytonutrients that can help to enhance immune function and protect against disease.  But ever wonder how these phytonutrients are detected and quantified?

Through this short course, you can gain first hands-on experience and perform phytonutrients extraction, standard preparation and analysis of samples using sophisticated analytical instruments such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In addition, the cloud-based system enables you to remotely monitor, control and perform data analysis off-site.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how functional food analysis is carried out from sample preparation to analytical instrument operation.
  • Apply learning and perform sample extraction, and chemical and data analysis to quantify the phytonutrients present in fruits and vegetables.
  • Determine the respective phytonutrients present in fruits and vegetables via a cloud-based system of analytical instruments.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for working professionals who work directly/indirectly in F&B industries, urban farming sector, students, and knowledge seekers.

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with formal assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
