Fundamentals of Ethical Hacking

Can hacking be “ethical”? Find out with this course! This three-day programme will teach you the fundamentals of ethical hacking and penetration testing.

In this introductory hands-on course, you will learn about the five different stages of penetration testing: reconnaissance, scanning, gaining access, maintaining access and documentation. You will also get to use various penetration testing tools to collect important network information, perform vulnerability scans on computing networks, gain access to systems and perform privilege escalation.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognise the scope of penetration testing.
  • Recognise the ethical and legal issues surrounding ethical hacking and penetration testing.
  • Perform passive and active network reconnaissance and vulnerability assessment using relevant security tools such as port and vulnerability scanners.
  • Conduct penetration testing on vulnerable Windows and Linux systems such as file and web servers using relevant software tools and scripts.
  • Perform common hacking attacks such as password cracking, man-in-the middle, privilege escalation, etc. and identify relevant mitigation techniques.

Professionals, Managers, Executives or Technicians (PMETs) interested in the fundamentals of ethical hacking.

Entry Requirement

Basic IT literacy, with a keen interest in cybersecurity and ethical hacking

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
