Statistical Process Control in Smart Factory Model

Industry 4.0 refers to the “smart” and connected systems designed to sense, predict, and interact with the physical world, making it possible to support manufacturing in real-time. This course provides an overview on how Industry 4.0 concepts are applied to Statistical Process Control (SPC).

In this course, the Bluetooth Digital Caliper will be used for measurement taking under a Smart Factory environment; enabling you to better understand how real-time data performance is monitored. You will also learn to create Test Plans, applying different types of statistical rules, while leveraging a statistical software known as Q-DAS to analyse process performance.

There will also be an opportunity for you to tour advanced measurement and three-dimensional printing labs, where you get to see metrology tools such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), and the Portable Measuring Arm in action; allowing you to build a stronger understanding on the applications of SPC, advanced hardware as well as software in the industry. At the same time, you get to widen your perspective on the kind of 3D printed products that can be measured using Bluetooth Digital Caliper.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the concepts of Industry 4.0 in SPC
  • Apply control charting for variable, analyse trends and interpret results in traditional way
  • Create Test Plan and analyse process performance using Q-DAS software
  • Understand different types of advanced metrology tools used in the industry
  • Appreciate the application of automation and real-time monitoring

Who Should Attend?

Managers, engineers, executives, supervisors, operators as well as individuals who are involved in process monitoring and improvement.

Entry Requirement
