Adopting Internet of Things into Operations

Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a network of physical objects – ranging from home appliances to vehicles – embedded with sensors and software; allowing them to connect and exchange data over the internet.

As technology continues to evolve, IoT looks set to transform our way of life. In Singapore, it has been identified as an enabler to make the best use of digital solutions. This, in turn, changes the way we work and brings about untapped opportunities across sectors, from public service to transportation, healthcare, and more.

Looking to adopt IoT into your work operations? This course is for you. Find out IoT devices’ role in enabling remote monitoring and control. At the same time, get equipped with the skills and knowledge to make sense of data gathered through the usage of IoT devices – by learning how to visualise on a cloud-based dashboard. Through this course, you will also discover the capability of IoT devices in facilitating rapid decision-making.

There will also be an opportunity for you to explore the functions of an IoT kit by trying your hands at programming the M5StickC which is equipped with two sensors. For the hands-on component of the course, you will be introduced to UIFlow, a drag and drop graphic programming platform.

Better yet, you get to bring home the IoT kit used in class, at the end of the course.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the different components of an IoT device
  • Apply UIFlow for remote monitoring and control of IoT devices
  • Present data gathered through IoT devices on a cloud-based dashboard
  • Demonstrate the applications of IoT for different work environments

Who Should Attend?

Business professionals and individuals who are keen to learn about IoT, analytics, and artificial intelligence.

Entry Requirement

Participants are expected to be familiar with the general operation of a personal computer or Macintosh, such as browsing the internet, opening and saving files, etc.

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with formal assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

Testimonials

The course was informative, fun and useful. As someone without a tech background, it was manageable – thanks to the course design and the lecturer who was patient in his delivery. The hands-on session involving IoT devices and the opportunity to watch how our programming work were the highlights of the course.
