Airside Operations and Ramp Services is a module selected from the Specialist Diploma in Aviation Management and Services. It enables participants to acquire new skills or deepen relevant skills without the need to pursue a full specialist diploma. As this is a stackable course, participants may choose to complete the remaining modules within the validity period, of two years, to be awarded the full Specialist Diploma qualification.
This module provides an insight to a wide array of activities that occur on both airside and ramp areas. Under airside operations, participants will learn about the different operational procedures in an airside area, airside safety standards, airfield signals, signs and markings, inspection and reporting techniques for airside operations, and wildlife management. Whereas, for ramp services, participants will be taught how to differentiate various aircraft turnaround activities, aircraft delays and disruptions, aircraft loading and unloading procedures, as well as risky situations during turnaround. Together as a module, collaborative decision making will be studied to understand the synergies amongst these activities and how they are closely intertwined.
