Basic Italian Cuisine

Have you ever felt that cooking is merely a one-way process where you simply observe and prepare food based on instructions – without much understanding why you need to follow each step as instructed?
 
This course aims to groom you into a knowledgeable culinary practitioner, while enhancing your skills in food preparation. As a participant, you get to learn culinary skills that are uncommonly revealed! 

Designed as a basic level course, you will be guided through bite-sized steps in preparing Italian cuisines such as pizza and pasta dishes. You will also be coached by an expert as you sharpen your culinary skills. 

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to

  • Describe the different types of pizzas/calzones and pastas dishes

  • Identify the ingredients used to prepare pizzas/calzones and pastas dishes

  • Prepare ingredients to cook pizzas/calzones and pastas dishes

  • Apply appropriate cooking techniques for pizzas/calzones and pastas dishes

  • Evaluate cooked pizzas/calzones and pastas dishes

  • Identify common errors in cooking pizzas/calzones and pastas dishes

Who should attend?

Individuals who are keen to develop basic culinary knowledge and skills in preparing basic Italian cuisines.

Entry Requirement

Participants are expected to have basic culinary skills such as cutting, chopping and cooking.

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
