Basic Medical Terminology

This basic medical knowledge programme is designed for healthcare staff who require the basic medical knowledge for effective communication at work.

The course will be conducted in the following manner: 

  1. Participants will access lesson materials on-line;
  2. They will participate in online activities; and
  3. Each participant is to submit lesson deliverables at the end of the day.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course they will learn basic medical knowledge and terminologies relevant to the services, which will help them in their communication with clinical professionals as well as patients and their relatives    

Who should attend?

Care Ambassadors, Care Assistants, or any other healthcare frontline staff who are required to deal with patients and their relatives.

Entry Requirement

Minimum age of 18 years old.

The course will be conducted in English. It is recommended, although not required that participants should possess a credit in the English Language at the GCE O-Level, N(A)-Level or Employability Skills System (ESS) of Level 5.

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with formal assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
