First Steps in Business Intelligence

Need a fresh perspective on your business? Discover the benefits of Big Data and Business Intelligence (BI) and how it can help improve your decision-making! In this two-day foundational programme, you will gain an overview of BI architecture and understand various supporting technologies such as Data Warehouse, Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) and Reporting tools. 

Learn about the fundamental concepts of business analysis, data gathering and reporting. This course will also cover the key principles of datamarts, dimensional modelling, Online Analytic Processing (OLAP) cubes, and BI enterprise reporting with an appropriate BI tool. 

Laptops will be provided for the duration of the course.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • define the basic concepts of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse
  • apply the principles of DW modelling
  • explain the concepts and purpose of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) 
  • prepare OLAP cubes 
  • produce a BI reporting tool prototype
