Every sport and recreational event involves risk. The type and level of risk depends on variables such as the activity, location and environment, skill level and number of participants, weather conditions and number of spectators, etc.
Risks to health, safety and well-being are implicit to sport and recreation. Participants must be aware of the various possible risks involved. Organisers have a legal responsibility to take reasonable steps to manage such risks.
Effective risk management applies a clear process to identify, analyse and evaluate event-related risk. This will assist to deliver a positive and safe event for all stakeholders.
At the end of this 1.5 day course, the participants will have a deeper understanding of Risk Management and the process
The learning mode for this course is interactive and experiential. It is designed with practicality and flexibility that the participants would be able to implement at their workplace environment.
The course delivery involves various strands of experiential learning methodology such as facilitated discussions, problem-based learning, practical/hands-on, peer supported activities and documented observations for presentations.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- understand the process for managing event risk
- know the key considerations and principles when development event risk management

This course is suitable for anyone interested in Sports Safety in conduct of Sport Events. Coaches and Sports Events Companies / Organisers , Facility / venue owners, Sports Safety Officers, Sports Conveners, PE teachers etc. who wants to review their Safety Management Systems.
Participants will be awarded the Certificate of Attendance by Republic Polytechnic upon meeting 75% of the attendance requirement.
