The National Day Awards are conferred to recognise various forms of merit and service to Singapore. We are proud to announce that amongst us the many winners for these prestigious awards.
Congratulations to Mr David Wong, Chairman, RP Board of Governors, on receiving the Meritorious Service Medal for his strong contributions to the higher education sector.
The Medal is awarded to any person who has performed within Singapore, service of conspicuous merit characterised by resource and devotion to duty, including long service marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct.
Mr David Wong has served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of Republic Polytechnic, and Chair of the External Review Panel for the Autonomous Universities Quality Assurance Framework since 2014.
Under Mr Wong’s leadership, Republic Polytechnic has enhanced teaching and learning, and established itself as a reputable life-long learning institution with strong partnerships with industry and the community. Mr Wong has also been a firm advocate for greater student support, including for students with special education needs and in the area of mental health.
Mr Wong has led the validation of the six autonomous universities with distinction over the last eight years. His stewardship of the quality assurance process has contributed significantly to the continued development and improvement of our publicly-funded universities.
