This module introduces students to the basic concepts of logical and critical thinking. Students will learn to consume information, media and news critically, and identify flaws in arguments. This enables students to exercise critical thinking and learn how it influences the way they make decisions, solve problems, and interact with people with varied opinions, life experiences, and cultures. Students will also learn the basic principles of systems thinking which helps to develop their ability to analyse, evaluate, and tackle complex problems in the world they live in.
At the end of this module, students will be able to formulate logical arguments that minimise fallacies and cognitive biases, evaluate credibility of sources and information, conduct fact-finding to understand complex problems, as well as analyse and respond to complex problems using systems thinking tools.
