This course aims to equip participants with specialised knowledge and skills in the field of supply chain management, including warehouse and inventory management, transportation operations and freight services, lean process, pharmaceutical and bio-chemical supply chain, and cold chain management, etc.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in simulation software, TradeNet application, Warehouse Management System (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), cold chain packaging and equipment, and Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID).

The one-year work-study programme in RP was a very fruitful one.
The Specialist Diploma in Supply Chain Management allows me to enhance my logistics knowledge and gave me a competitive edge against my peers. Thanks to my lecturers, I have achieved various promotions internally at my current company as I am now well equipped with supply chain knowledge and is able to share them with my subordinates to improve my organisation’s effectiveness in logistical planning.
The Work-Study Programme covers a wide range of topics – from operations to customer service, airlines standard operations procedures, data analysis, and quotation processes. Trainees get to apply the knowledge and skills gained at their workplace. Simultaneously, the talent and energy brought by the trainees help companies, like us, to identify new areas of development.
Participants will undergo a 12-month structured training programme including On-the-Job Training, instructor-led e-Learning / training, and company-based projects leading to a Specialist Diploma in Supply Chain Management.
Participants will be awarded the Post-Diploma Certificate (PDC) upon successful completion of each certificate programme. The Specialist Diploma in Supply Chain Management will be issued upon meeting 50% of attendance requirement and passing the assessment criteria of both PDCs.
Module Synopses
1. Post-Diploma Certificate in Supply Chain OperationsThe Post Diploma Certificate aims to equip participants with the foundation of supply chain operations. Participants will learn inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation operations, freight services, and specialized logistics in cold chain management and pharmaceutical/bio-chemical supply chain management.
This PDC consists of the following six modules:
Transportation Management and Operations
This module equips students with the knowledge of domestic transportation and distribution operations, the fundamentals of efficient transportation systems, transportation costing, and traffic management. Internet of Things (IoT) platforms used in transport operations such as “track and trace” technologies and route optimiser will also be taught.
Freight Services and Operations
This module aims to build students’ knowledge on various topics on international freight services through a structured, consultative, and interactive learning process using relevant case studies from the industry.
Inventory Management
This module introduces the basic principles in inventory management and aims to provide participants with a fundamental knowledge of different inventory management techniques, practices, and technologies commonly adopted in the industry. This module aims to equip participants with the knowledge to control, manage, and improve inventory processes for different types of inventories.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
This module aims to equip students with fundamental knowledge of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System and how it supports the organisations to run operations more efficiently and effectively. In this module, students will examine the typical business processes in an ERP system such as Material Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Production Planning (PP).
Warehouse Management and Operations
This module covers the principles of warehouse operations and their importance in supply chain management. These include warehouse planning and processes, selection of material handling systems, labour, and cost requirements. Through these lessons, the module equips participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively operate the warehouse and distribution operations. The students are also exposed to benchmarking tools, the latest technologies, and emerging trends in this industry.
Pharmaceutical and Cold Chain Management
This module aims to provide an understanding of the theoretical concepts and practical applications relevant to the management of cold chain and pharmaceutical & Dangerous Goods (DG) with compliance with the industry standards and best practices.
2. Post Diploma Certificate in Supply Chain Processes ImprovementThe Post Diploma Certificate aims to equip participants with integrated logistics solutioning and process improvement. Participants will learn how to apply process improvement techniques and technologies to plan, implement and manage the integrated supply chain.
This PDC consists of the following four modules:
Data Analytics and Data Visualisation in Supply Chain Management
This module provides an in-depth understanding of how data analytics and data visualisation techniques can be leveraged to enhance supply chain management processes. In today's competitive business landscape, effective supply chain management is crucial for delivering products and services efficiently and cost-effectively. Data analytics and visualisation are powerful tools that enable organisations to make data-driven decisions, improve supply chain visibility, and respond to dynamic market demands. This module will equip students with the knowledge and skills to analyse supply chain data, extract meaningful insights, and present these insights visually for informed decision-making.
Supply Chain Design and Lean Management
This module covers the fundamentals of strategies, techniques and best practices which can be adopted to improve supply chain operations in various industries and respective verticals, in the era of increasing drive towards digitalisation and green practices.
Students will gain insights into best practices and lean principles in Supply Chain Network Design, Procurement, Sustainability, Finance, Aerospace Logistics, Agile Supply Chain and etc. enabling them to generate innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Supply Chain IT
This module is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of modern technologies essential for Supply Chain industry. This module covers a broad range of technologies, spanning automation, cybersecurity, and various emerging digital advancements. Students will gain insights into information and communication technologies, along with an exploration of Industry 4.0 technologies such as cloud-based solutions, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Additionally, the module emphasizes the importance of information security and the integration of sustainable practices in technology-driven business landscapes.
Project
Participants will undertake an individual project to apply what they have learnt and deepen their understanding in the supply chain management related topics of interest.
Each student will be expected to define the objectives of the project, develop a plan of action, execute the plan to a reasonable degree, and evaluate its outcomes. Participants will also be expected to take corrective action if necessary and prepare a report and presentation covering the entire project.
WSP Eligibility
Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are:
- within three years of graduation from the Polytechnics or the Operational Ready Date (ORD) for full-time National Servicemen, or
- within five years of graduation from the Polytechnics, and if their employer is a participating company.
Course Entry Requirement
Applicants should preferably be a graduate of a feeder programme as listed here.
Admission will be reviewed and approved by the polytechnic on a case-by-case basis.
