Basic Video Creation and Editing

Have you ever tried creating your own video for Facebook or YouTube? Are you keen on understanding and developing the skills needed to create and edit your own professional-looking videos?

This entry-level course will introduce you to the main principles of digital video production. This course will teach you to apply basic videography and editing techniques to video production. Using the Plan-Do-Edit concept, you will be able to plan, execute and edit your own video production.

This course is suitable for those taking their first steps into basic video production. You will learn to understand your audience and recognise the elements of a good video. Furthermore, you will be exposed to various techniques of script writing, storyboarding, video compositions, and audio and video editing through hands-on practice and activities. You will also cover the technological aspect of video production such as the use of mobile devices, video editing tools and online animation applications for beginners.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • transform idea(s) into a video

  • identify the stages of video production within pre-production, production and post-production

  • produce a video based on a script and storyboard

Who should attend?

Anyone who is interested in creating simple videos and learning basic video editing.

Entry Requirement

Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of using a smartphone to shoot videos.

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
