Eco Hospitality Environment and Sustainability Series - Green Events

With the increasing focus on being environmentally friendly in many aspects of our lives, event organisers are also looking at ways to adopt green practises when planning and organising events.

In this course, you will learn the best practises adopted from local and international fronts on how to plan and organise events that are environmentally sustainable. You will learn how to incorporate environmentally-friendly practises into all aspects of your event planning, from choosing the venue and transportation to waste management and promoting sustainability.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the sources of waste in events
  • Learn to organise successful and environmentally-friendly events that minimise waste, limits greenhouse gas emissions and reduce general waste
  • Understand the best practices adopted for Green Events

Who Should Attend?

Managers, executives and support staff in event planning and programme management.

 

Entry Requirement 

Participants should be proficient in English and possess basic Microsoft Excel as well as internet research skills. 

Certification

Participants will be awarded the Certificate of Attendance by Republic Polytechnic upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

Trainer's Profile

K Ramamoorthy is one of the pioneering members of the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry with some ten years in this dynamic space. Before joining Republic Polytechnic in 2007, he was the Delegations Director with Singex Venues at the Singapore Expo, a position that encompasses his experience with his rise through the ranks with the organisation, when he managed both global and local events including Global Security Asia 2009, IMDEX 2003 and 2007, SITEX from 2001 – 2006, Cities Asia Conference 2001 and many more. In 2007, Ramamoorthy joined the School of Hospitality and has since conducted hospitality training in Singapore as well as overseas for tourism delegates. Rama graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Business Administration) in Management and Human Resource Management from the Hawaii Pacific University. Rama has a passion for voluntary work and serving in grassroots organisations for over 22 years.
