Exploring Places and Senses

More educational institutions are looking at enhancing their curriculum to promote a sense of place and identity for their students. Place-Based Curriculum has been proven effective in helping to develop the student’s sense of place and understanding of their immediate surroundings. 

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the important and benefits of sense of place.
  2. Identify and describe the different lenses in viewing the environment surrounding school and community.
  3. Apply Place-Based Educational (PBE) pedagogy in curriculum or programmes. 

Programme Outline

This workshop aims to introduce sense of place and assist educators and support staff in adopting and curating an experiential Place-Based Educational (PBE) pedagogy in their curriculum or programmes. This application can be inter-disciplinary and not necessarily related to outdoors.

Entry Requirement

Minimum age of 18 years old.

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
