Inventory Management is a module selected from the Specialist Diploma in Supply Chain Management. It enables participants to acquire new skills or deepen relevant skills without the need to pursue a full specialist diploma. As this is a stackable course, participants may choose to complete the remaining modules within the validity period, of two years, to be awarded the full Specialist Diploma qualification.
This module covers the basic principles in inventory management and aims to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of inventory control techniques, practices, and technologies commonly adopted in the industry. Participants will also be equipped with the expertise to control and manage the inventory operations for different types of stocks.

By the end of the module, participants will be able to:

Understand the importance and strategic roles of inventory and inventory management in companies that manufacture, distribute, store, move, and sell products to customers

Describe the various common inventory control practices used in the industry

Appreciate the various technologies that are used for inventory management

Explain the appropriate inventory control methods to be used for independent-demand items, dependent-demand items, and perishable items
Entry Requirement
Applicants should possess a relevant polytechnic diploma or degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or Science from recognised institutions.
For applicants who do not meet the minimum entry requirements, an interview will be conducted to assess applicants’ qualification and working experience.
Certification
Participants will be awarded the Certificate of Completion by Republic Polytechnic upon completing the module.
