Principles of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a module that equips participants with the necessary foundation for electrical circuit analysis. Participants will learn to apply techniques in analysing basic elements (resistors, capacitors and inductors) with Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) power sources. Participants will also learn concepts of electromagnetism and its application in power generation, transformer and motor operation.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the module, participants will be able to:
-
Describe basic electrical variables and circuit elements found in Direct Current (DC) circuits
-
Apply various circuit analysis tools and techniques to analyze resistors network circuits
-
Examine the concepts and application of electromagnetism
-
Analyze the behaviors of Alternating Current (AC) sources
-
Examine electrical energy storage elements and explain their transient and steady state behaviors
-
Examine semiconductor devices and apply in electronic circuits
This module is selected from the Diploma in Engineering (Electrical and Electronics). It enables participants to acquire new skills or deepen relevant skills without the need to pursue a full part-time diploma. Further, participants may choose to complete the remaining modules within the validity period, of 5 years, to be awarded the full Part-time Diploma qualification.
