Academy for Continuing Education (ACE)

Transportation Management and Operations is a module selected from the Specialist Diploma in Supply Chain Management. It enables participants to acquire new skills or deepen relevant skills without the need to pursue a full specialist diploma. As this is a stackable course, participants may choose to complete the remaining modules within the validity period, of two years, to be awarded the full Specialist Diploma qualification.

This module aims to provide an understanding, both practically and theoretically, on the applications of transportation management and operations in local context. It also looks into the efficient management of industrial and transport logistics. Upon completion of the module, participants will be better informed on concepts such as transportation management, last mile delivery, and the use of IT tools for track and trace.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the module, participants will be able to:

• Describe the various types of distribution channels and transportation services

• Plan, analyse, and optimise distribution network and transportation routing

• Recommend suitable use of export packing and packaging labelling for international transportation

• Apply technologies in distribution planning

• Appreciate current trends and challenges faced in the local distribution industry

Entry Requirement

Applicants should possess a relevant polytechnic diploma or degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or Science from recognised institutions.

For applicants who do not meet the minimum entry requirements, an interview will be conducted to assess applicants’ qualification and working experience.

Certification

Participants will be awarded the Certificate of Completion by Republic Polytechnic upon completing the module.
