Understanding Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases

Participants will be equipped with the basic understanding of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in this one-day course.

The course will focus on microbes that cause Infectious Diseases with emphasis on Bacteria, Virus & Fungi. Occurrence of Infectious Diseases such as SARS, HMFD and Covid-19 will be discussed through case studies. Participants will learn how to recognize symptoms and gain an understanding on the mode of transmission for these Infectious Diseases to better guide Environmental Service workers in their design for a disinfection operation.

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with formal assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
