The basic principles for formulation and compounding are taught in this module, along with the design and technology involved. Students will also learn to evaluate dosage forms and drug delivery systems.
Drug standards are covered, giving students a sound understanding of the importance of administering safe, effective, stable and reliable drug delivery systems.
Emphasis is placed on oral and liquid (aqueous and non-aqueous) dosage forms; pulmonary, ophthalmic and parenteral drug delivery systems and the pharmaceutical calculations required to prepare these dosage forms.
Students will also study how to apply physicochemical principles to pharmaceutical technology and preparation of dosage forms.
