Medication Safety and Sustainability explores the practices aimed at minimizing medication errors and enhancing medication safety, while also examining the ways in which sustainable healthcare practices can enhance the quality of patient care and mitigate environmental impact. Students will learn about pharmacy automation, unit-dose packaging and dispensing, barcode medication administration technology, inventory management of high-risk medications and medication reconciliation. Students will also explore environmentally conscious practices within healthcare settings, focusing on the incorporation of sustainability principles into medication prescribing, dispensing, administration, and the management of pharmaceutical waste.
