The financial sector plays an important role in closing the financing gap. Thus, it is uniquely placed to influence and drive changes for sustainability. This module examines the impetus for capital flows into activities that would provide both competitive financial returns as well as positive environmental and social impact in line with the goals of the United Nation 2030 Agenda, the Sustainable development goals, and the Paris Agreement. Students will learn the different types of sustainable finance products, find out about the various market participants in sustainable finance, and explore the variety of metrics that can be used to measure impact objectives. Students will also reflect on the important role of the public and private sectors in promoting sustainable finance. Thereafter, students will be required to demonstrate their understanding through the development of an impactful strategy, action or initiative that could make a considerable bid for sustainable financing.
