Sustainability has emerged as a key priority among many businesses. Equally important for these businesses is the strategy to communicate their sustainability efforts so as to engage and influence their stakeholders. It is critical for communications practitioners to be well-equipped to plan and develop public relations and marketing communications campaigns to develop and amplify sustainability messages for their organisations and clients. In this module, students will learn about sustainability, the importance for businesses to communicate their sustainability efforts, and how businesses can best communicate about sustainability. Students will be trained to look at societal context to examine the social or environmental impact that a brand can potentially have before they embark on planning and designing sustainability communications strategy. In addition, students will learn to define their target audiences and the content ideas available to develop sustainability messaging and impactful stories.
