This module aims to create awareness among students of the nation’s readiness in supporting the elderly to live healthily, purposefully, and gracefully in place. It will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the biopsychosocial needs of seniors. Students will learn to differentiate and manage biological, physical, psychological and physiological ageing. They will appreciate various policies and resources supporting the independence of the elderly. Emphasis will be placed on utilisation of health promotion and health coaching strategies to promote health and wellness among seniors. As frailty increases with age, this module will also prepare students to prevent falls and frailty. Students will also acquire knowledge and skills related to mental wellness and resilience for seniors.
