This module introduces students to an overview of Singapore's legal system and the ethical principles used in healthcare. Students will examine issues like consent, confidentiality, decision-making capacity, and end-of-life matters, including Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and Advanced Medical Directives (AMD). The course also covers relevant healthcare statutes and laws, with a focus on safeguarding older adults from abuse. By the end of the module, students will understand the complex interplay between health, ethics, and law in protecting the rights and dignity of older adults.
