This module introduces students to the unique needs of seniors and the wide range of community health and social resources available to support ageing-in-place. Recognising that the sustainability of these services depends on personal responsibility, the module emphasises the active involvement of seniors, their families and caregivers in complementing and supporting the care of seniors. Students will explore strength-based approaches; including the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) model for empowering individuals, the GROW model framework for supporting caregivers, and the Motivational Interviewing (MI) technique to encourage positive decision-making and behaviour change among seniors and their caregivers. Upon meeting the Silver Generation Office (SGO) requirements, students will be certified as Silver Generation Ambassadors (SGAs) upon successful completion of the module.
