The module will introduce fundamental pathophysiology and clinical features of common medical conditions, concepts of dietary assessment and disease-nutrient management. Nutrition Care Process is an approach used in the industry to improve the consistency and quality of individualised care for clients. This process is used as a framework in the module, with introduction to disease-nutrient relationships, and develop ability to apply medical nutrition care on common chronic medical conditions.
Students will acquire and hone skills to assess, execute, monitor and re-evaluate, as well as document nutrition care process of clients. Nutritional management give students opportunity to deepen their learning through investigation of client’s health condition(s), plan and execute intervention and education, and re-evaluate client’s progress with follow-up. Students will display their knowledge and skills through the development of a nutritional management plan, after assessing and evaluating client’s health condition(s).
