Students will be equipped with fundamental skills required to safely hang, cable, and strike both conventional and automated lighting fixtures for theatre and ‘live’ events. The module includes theoretical topics such as the functions of stage light, controllable qualities of light, understanding a lighting plan, and developing associated paperwork. Students will acquire practical skills in cable management, optics control of conventional lighting fixtures, and the application of DMX functions for optics control for automated lighting fixtures. They will also learn to articulate the roles of a Master Electrician, Programmer and Lighting Designer in the context of theatre and ‘live’ events.
