Empowering Seniors through a Joint Digital Strength Training Innovation
As Singapore’s ageing population continues to grow, many seniors face mobility challenges and limited access to structured, evidence-based strength training. To address this need, RP collaborated with a non-profit community partner and a deep-tech industry partner to co-develop the Strength Training Digital Coach for Seniors (STDCS) — an AI-enabled exercise system designed to support safe, progressive, and sustainable strength training for older adults.
Grounded in RP’s expertise in exercise science, geragogy, and digital application development, the platform integrates computer vision movement analysis, adaptive exercise progression algorithms, and gamified engagement features. STDCS guides seniors through personalised workouts, monitors quality of movement, tracks progress using validated frailty and functional fitness indicators, and provides actionable insights to both seniors and caregivers or trainers. The technology has been licensed to the community partner for deployment.
This collaboration strengthens community-based active ageing programmes by making structured strength training more accessible, scalable, and engaging. By incorporating evidence-based practice with advancements in AI and computer vision, and aligning them with real-world community health needs, the STDCS initiative contributes directly to national efforts to promote healthy ageing, preserve mobility, and support independent living among seniors.
