Formulation and Optimisation of Fish (O. niloticus) Feed from Food Waste Protein Waste

Technology Overview

An aquafeed formulation has been developed utilising food waste ingredients, specifically targeting tilapia (O. niloticus) farming. This innovative approach addresses two critical challenges: the rising costs of conventional aquafeed and the growing food waste problem. The feed incorporates soy press cake from soy sauce manufacturing, fish processing waste and bread waste into aquaculture feed, thereby transforming these waste products into valuable feed ingredients. This solution aims to reduce feed costs while maintaining optimal fish growth performance, supporting both sustainable aquaculture and waste reduction initiatives.
