Modular Floating Vegetable Farm

Technology Overview

Designed with sustainable and circular principles, the modular floating farm is an efficient farming solution that can help to increase the available arable land by deploying it onto various water bodies such as reservoirs, rivers, canals, or kelongs (offshore fishing platforms).

Deployment over water bodies has the advantages of reducing excess evaporation and providing an ideal surface area for cooling the farm, thereby creating an optimised environment for plant growth. With a controlled environment and automated systems, the modular floating farm requires minimal human intervention, such as during transplanting, bi-weekly topping of water, and harvesting. Each floating farm measures approximately four metres in length and 1.8 metres in width, and able to yield a monthly output of 60kg of bok choy.
