Agricultural technology, or AgriTech, is the focus of this module, which aims to enhance students' understanding of using technology in agriculture to improve efficiency, sustainability, and productivity. The curriculum emphasizes knowledge of various agricultural cultivation systems, including both indoor and outdoor approaches, with a special focus on urban farming technologies like hydroponics, aeroponics, and aquaponics. Students will explore the benefits and risks associated with each system and learn about factors influencing yield improvement such as lighting, irrigation, and microclimate control. Integrated pest management, a key aspect of farm operations, is also covered. The module highlights technological advancements in agriculture, introducing tools like Controlled-Environment Agriculture (CEA), Internet-of-Things (IoT), and automation. By understanding the critical factors in agricultural systems, students will be equipped to effectively manage an urban farm and respond to the diverse and growing demands in agriculture.
