Data collection is an important aspect of environmental monitoring and assessment. In this module, students will gain hands-on experience in performing onsite sampling and measurement of water quality parameters, detection of contaminants in water and indoor air quality audit. Principles of epidemiology and environmental health surveillance will also be discussed. Students will also be taught the proper methods to analyse and present environmental data by using visualisation software. In particular, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) - a computer-based tool that stores, manipulates and analyse geographic information, and its application in the environmental industry will be covered in this module.
