This module aims to provide students with a foundation in the basic anatomy and physiological processes in marine animals. Students will explore the major marine taxa and learn about their life-history, body forms, locomotion, foraging and predator avoidance strategies. They will also learn about the mechanisms involved in endocrine feedback and metabolism, nitrogenous waste regulation and thermoregulation. At the end of the module, students would be able to explain the behavioural, anatomical, and physiological adaptive traits of major marine taxa in relation to their environment.
