This module introduces students to the work of health professionals. Students will acquire a systematic understanding of the ways in which patients adjust to their illnesses based on the diagnosis. Students will also be taught the underlying theoretical aspects of the concept of communication in patient care, while recognising the importance of working in a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. This module also provides an overview of the organisation of the hospital departments, electronic medical records system and interviewing skills to record information from patients. Equipped with essential patient care principles and skills, students will be able to appreciate and apply the attitudinal and behavioural aspects appropriate to health professionals.
