This module introduces students to the fundamental concepts and applications of unmanned systems across two key areas Unmanned Aircraft (UA) technology and mobile robotics. The first topic covers Unmanned Aircraft (UA) technology, where students gain foundational understanding of UA operations, safety procedures, and aviation regulations. Through hands-on simulator training, students develop essential operational skills for safe and effective UA flight. Students may also enrol in the RP Unmanned Aircraft Basic Theory (UABT) online course to obtain the CAAS-recognised certification.
The second topic explores mobile robotics, introducing core principles of robot anatomy, internal systems, autonomous navigation, and programming. Students examine the role of mobile robots in transforming industries and gain practical experience through simulations and robotics-based projects.
Together, both topics provide a strong foundation in unmanned systems, fostering innovation and preparing students for emerging careers in UA technology and robotics.
