This module equips students with the fundamental knowledge of basic semi-conductor devices commonly used in analogue electronics. Students will be introduced to the behavioural characteristics of these semi-conductor devices such as diodes, Bipolar-Junction Transistors (BJT) and Field-Effect Transistors (FETs). Students will be required to perform analysis on device application circuits to determine various circuit parameters such as output voltage / current values, voltage gain and input / output impedances. Students will be using Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to perform circuit simulations and design verifi cations. Appropriate laboratory experiments will be included to enhance learning processes and to equip students with necessary circuit prototyping hands-on skills. Verifi cation of prototyped circuit functionality will be performed via appropriate test and measurements techniques.
