This module equips students with the key concepts of facility planning and design focusing on transportation infrastructures such as bus interchanges, rail stations and rail depots. Topics on planning covers the understanding of the relationship between different modes of transportation, effects of transportation policies in mitigating traffic congestion and considerations for the construction of transportation infrastructures such as, universal design (design for all people) and sustainable transport facilities. Topics on design include design for maintainability, workplace safety and the design of essential building services such as, fi re protection systems, air conditioning systems, mechanical ventilation, tunnel ventilation systems, lifts, escalators, depot equipment and track works.
