This module will give students a practical foundation of media law and ethics by presenting a spectrum of legal issues and ethical dilemmas faced by media practitioners. It equips students with the tools for identifying, anticipating and managing legal issues and ethical dilemmas so as to better prepare them to tackle the challenges in the media industry. Students will develop the ability to make rational, reasoned and ethical decisions with due consideration to the relevant laws and legal implications when selecting, developing and interpreting content within the media industry. The module will also touch on global and digital trends affecting the works of media practitioners – and how they alter their decision-making processes.
