This module aims to create awareness among students of Singapore’s readiness in supporting the older adults to live healthily, purposefully and age gracefully. It will provide students with an understanding of the multifaceted needs of seniors through the biological, psychological and social lenses. Students will get to appreciate how the various policies and resources encourage and support independent living to enhance quality of life. They will learn about the needs of seniors and how these needs are affected by the various biological, psychological and social theories of ageing. Students will also evaluate the government policies and the resources that are initiated to enhance the quality of life and support seniors to live independently. Students will also learn about evidence-based solutions and how they can be used to propose changes to existing policies and resources to improve the seniors’ quality of life. Students will also acquire knowledge and skills related to mental wellness and resilience for seniors.
