Introduction to Technical Theatre provides students with an overview of the practical and theoretical competencies required by the ‘live’ entertainment industries. Students gain insight into the roles of the various technical departments, stage operations, and the importance of safety procedures. They acquire skills in technical and design documentation whilst learning the roles of the different technical departments. They also learn about the functions of each production aspect in putting together a stage production. By the end of the module students are able to explain how staging, lighting, sound, set, costume and technical drawings work together to enhance productions.
