The aim of this module is to introduce students to the fundamentals of audio technology by building competencies in audio recording, editing, and mixing. Students will learn about the physics of sound and recognise the difference between analogue and digital audio. Students will also learn the practical use of microphones and the essential concepts of signal flow. Students will get to experience using various types of professional audio tools in creative project works, such as recording dialogue in outdoor and indoor locations, editing sound clips, and creating unique audio-driven content. The module’s aims are achieved primarily through handson practical work. The range of skills acquired through this module can be applied to the production and management of sound for music, video, and interactive projects.
