The module introduces students to the key art forms— design, film, music, theatre, dance and fine art. Students are taught how to deconstruct works across disciplines to learn about the techniques used in their creation. By doing so, they understand the origins of these approaches, and can begin to explore or experiment with these methods in their chosen artistic field. Students also study the links between artistic ideas and historical events. They learn how contemporary surroundings influenced practitioners and their respective creative works. Students are then guided to explore their own inspirations related to their chosen discipline (i.e. audio, media, games, theatre, design), based on their personal responses to a local or world event.
