Creative Concepts introduces students to the principles, concepts, and techniques creative professionals use to conceptualise, develop, and critique creative works. The module explores why these concepts are effective in creative expression and examines how professionals use them, while encouraging students to experiment with the concepts in their own creative works. Students first explore the origins of creativity: what it is, where it comes from, why it is crucial, and how it has become essential for all professions. Through research, discussion, analysis, and application, students observe and experience the use of these concepts in practice. In the process, they can discern and appreciate what makes some creative works more effective. Students will develop confidence in sharing their views about the craft that underpins their creative discipline and articulate strategies to advance their creative output.
