Forty-nine Diploma in Outdoor & Adventure Learning (now known as Diploma in Outdoor Education) students, together with their lecturers went to war on trash in kayaks and with trash bags for a coastal clean-up initiative at Pulau Ketam, an island off Pulau Ubin. The participants collected 752kg of trash in just one day!

This "Clean-up on Kayak" scheduled in March 2017 was organised in collaboration with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). It was definitely a great way for our DOAL-ers to use their outdoor skills to support an important environmental cause!

Fourteen of our Diploma in Health Management & Promotion (now known as Diploma in Sports & Health) students had the chance to put their training to good use at the “Wishing Singapore a Healthy, Happy Birthday” carnival held at Keat Hong Community Club on 22 July 2017.

The students conducted bone density, body composition and cardiovascular risk assessment tests for Choa Chu Kang residents aged 40 and above. They also designed, built and ran several fitness stations at the event to encourage the community to exercise and lead more physically active lives.

Eight Diploma in Sports & Leisure Management students collaborated with Pro-Fitness Solutions and SAFRA Punggol to organise SKOOTSG 2017, the first kick scooter race in Singapore, on 15 July.

The students applied the skills that they had learned during their “Inclusive Physical Activity” module to design a well-received event that brought different segments of the community together, including families with young children, the elderly, the deaf, and the visually impaired and their guide dogs.
