Diploma in Outdoor Education

What You Will Learn

Renamed from Diploma in Outdoor & Adventure Learning

The Diploma in Outdoor Education (DOE) aims to support the growing needs of the outdoor education and outdoor recreation sectors by nurturing students with specialised and versatile skills, knowledge, and attitudes to enhance their employability in related industries.

Embracing a social constructivist approach, the curriculum is designed to be authentic, active, and closely linked to real-world scenarios, ensuring engagement and empowerment for students with diverse motivations and learning abilities.

National Certification and Industry Recognition

You will be well-equipped to embark on careers within the outdoor education, outdoor recreation, special needs, and youth development industries. You will have the opportunity to obtain the following national certifications:

  • Singapore National Climbing Standards (SNCS) Level 1 and 2
  • Singapore National Abseiling Standards (SNAS) Level 1 and 2
  • Singapore Canoe Federation (SCF) Kayaking Personal Skills 1 Star and 2 Star
  • Orienteering Standards Level 1
  • bizSAFE Level 2

In addition, DOE graduates may opt to further their education by pursuing a bachelor's degree in outdoor education or a relevant field, unlocking doors to advanced career prospects.

RP’s Problem-based Learning approach is ideal for an experiential learner like me! I was able to understand concepts and theories better because the lecturers in RP are markedly different from all the teachers I have had to date. They build great rapport with students and take genuine interest in our lives. I’ve received valuable guidance from them for my life decisions.
