Biochar, a carbon-rich by-product of biomass, has been gaining attention in the construction and agriculture industries. Due to its ability to sequester carbon, it has been increasingly discussed and explored as a green building material and sustainable booster for crop cultivation. Such application of advanced materials can contribute towards a greener and more sustainable construction and agriculture industry.
We were thrilled to co-organise the Built Environment Innovation Exchange (BEIX) x Agrifood Research Innovation Showcase (ARIS) with Building and Construction Authority (BCA), an event that was as inspiring as it was insightful, co-host between the Centre of Innovation for Built Environment – Advanced Materials (COIBE-AM) and Urban Agriculture Centre of Innovation (UACOI).
Speakers include Emeritus Professor Prof Ong Choon Nam and Associate Professor Kua Karn Wei from the National University of Singapore (NUS); Mr Randy Toh, Vice President of Bluefield Renewable Energy; Mr Eric Teo, CEO of Gee Hoe Seng; Dr Goh Chee Keong from Republic Polytechnic.
