The area of cloud computing is predicted to have exponential worldwide growth till 2020 and beyond according to market intelligence providers such as IDC and Gartner. This field has grown in increasing importance in Singapore and along with it, the demand for suitably-trained manpower. In fact, cloud computing is recognised as one of the most sought after technical skill by LinkedIn in 2018.
The aim of the Specialist Diploma in Cloud Architecting & Management (SDCAM) is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge in the area of cloud computing architecting, cloud migration and implementation, cloud security and to provide an education and career pathway for those who aspire to pursue a career in the growing industry of Cloud Computing.
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- design scalable cloud-computing environment with availability and latency considerations
- configure essential cloud services and to perform provisioning of cloud resources
- apply cloud migration framework and cloud implementation knowledge
- identify both technological and non-technological security threats and risks, and adopt mitigation measures to reduce the threats and risks in the cloud environment
- acquire fundamental skills in DevOps, which helps to gel application development and operating environment to achieve deployment consistency and scalability in Cloud environments

Module Synopses
1. Post-Diploma Certificate in Cloud Architecting
Cloud Computing Fundamentals
This module covers the basic architecture and functionality of cloud operating systems and network components required for a cloud deployment. It also covers the workload experienced by applications, service models employed by cloud providers, and the different deployment options for clouds.
Cloud Architecting
This module covers approaches to architecting cloud solution based on industry established framework such as AWS well-architected framework. This includes learning the essential architecting considerations for designing cloud solutions. Learners will undertake cloud lab practices that will cover the application of skills and knowledge to architect solution for cloud services. It also covers the engagement and utilization of on premise private cloud. Learners will be given opportunities to configure essential private cloud services and to perform provisioning of cloud resources.
Cloud Architecting Project*
This project allows learners to apply the knowledge and skills gained from PDC in Cloud Architecting covering Cloud Architecture to configure and provision cloud resources.

2. Post-Diploma Certificate in Cloud Management
Cloud Implementation
This module covers the challenges faced in migrating workloads to private and public clouds. Workload movement includes multiple migration and deployment scenarios and proven methodologies in planning a successful migration. This module also covers the fundamentals of Linux administration and Shell scripting. It also includes infrastructure automation built for DevOps.
Cloud Security & DevOps
This module will identify both technological and non-technological security threats and risks, and adopt mitigation measures to reduce the threats and risks in the cloud environment. Legal responsibilities based on business compliancy and industry regulations will be discussed. It also covers the fundamental concepts of the emerging culture in IT applications development that are integrated into cloud infrastructure.
Cloud Management Project*
This project allows learners to apply the knowledge and skills gained from PDC in Cloud Management to manage cloud resources incorporating elements of migration, automation, provisioning & deployment.

WSP Eligibility
Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are:
- within three years of graduation from the Polytechnics or the Operational Ready Date (ORD) for full-time National Servicemen, or
- within five years of graduation from the Polytechnics, and if their employer is a participating company.
Course Entry Requirement
Applicants should preferably be a graduate of a feeder programme as listed here.
Admission will be reviewed and approved by the polytechnic on a case-by-case basis.
