Improving your Brand in the Gig Economy

This one-day course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to grow their personal brand as self-employed persons. In this course, participants will learn how to carve out their personal brand and identify their value proposition for the service(s) they provide. They will analyse the strengths and weaknesses of commonly used social media channels and develop strategies to better reach potential clients/target audiences in the digital space. With an emphasis on activity-based learning, participants will also be taught how to refocus social media networking to increase their work and business opportunities.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the three factors to consider when carving out a personal brand – Purpose, Presence, Proposition .
  2. Examine distinctive features of online resumes for marketing a personal brand to secure gig opportunities.
  3. Employ social media as a networking platform to increase personal brand visibility to expand gig opportunities.
  4. Establish a suitable strategy to market a personal brand using social media.

This course is suitable for participants with minimal or no prior knowledge.
