Professional Certificate in Career Counselling & Coaching

This course aims to equip HR practitioners, line managers and supervisors, who have leadership responsibilities, to provide effective career coaching to the people they lead in the course of their work.

With rapid technological advancements, and new ways of organising work, making multiple career transitions in one’s lifetime is fast becoming the norm for every individual engaged in the global economy.  

While organisations can continue to play a key role in supporting employees with career management initiatives, the responsibility of managing a person’s career lies primarily with the individual.

Understanding Career (Self-) Management is critical to both supervisors and employees.

  • Implementing the Principles of PCTA through Actively Listening
  • Applying Holland’s Theory of Vocational Personalities and Work Environments in Making Career Choices
  • Applying Work Adjustment and Developmental Theories to Assist Clients in Managing Career Transitions
  • Applying Happenstance Learning Theory to Assist Clients with Difficulties in Making Career Decisions
  • Integrating Positive Psychology Perspectives into Career Management

Learning Objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Conduct career conversations using the Person-Centred Theory and Approach (PCTA)
  • Apply the most current career development theories and models for career interventions
  • Conduct career assessment effectively to determine the appropriate interventions for the clients
